The PGA Championship hardly lived up to the intense nail-biting ending most fans were hoping for. History will show the winning score at the 2012 PGA Championship was -13, but a whopping 15 players were within three strokes of David Lynn’s five-under, second-place finish. Imagine the excitement Rory McIlroy deprived us of with his exceptional performance throughout the week. Instead of fans watching anxiously while routing for their favorites, Mcllroy slammed the door shut as he obliterated the field. I understand McIlroy is at the top of many fan-favorites lists, including mine, but I would imagine that even the most loyal of fans would have appreciated a more dramatic ending.
Thankfully McIlroy gave fans some fireworks as he bombed a humongous drive, executed a superb second, and then holed his 20-footer for birdie on 18 Sunday. Although it was in fact, a magnificent performance and awe-inspiring to watch, Sunday’s play seemed somewhat casual in comparison to what was expected. The back nine at the Ocean Course is built for drama, and dramatic it was indeed, but for second place rather than declaring the 2012 PGA CHAMPION. Congratulations to World’s No. 1, Rory McIlroy, for his truly dominating performance in the 2012 PGA Championship.
